Resveratrol is a natural antioxidant discovered years ago after scientists and medical researchers became curious about the impressive French diet. It has its roots stemming from the French Paradox.
This paradox was that, the French, despite their high-calorie and high carbohydrates diet and a regular consumption of wine, still managed to become healthy and free of different diseases. Later on, they found that it was because of the correct consumption of Resveratrol through red wine why the French kept their good health.
This powerful antioxidant is responsible for their healthier and longer lives because it fights free radicals that cause cancer cells and tumors to grow and multiply inside the body.
The benefits of resveratrol, found primarily in red wine, are still being looked into, even though 1000’s of laboratory studies have been finished.
But, let’s get to what those benefits are:
• Powerful fat burner and appetite suppressant
• Prevents colon, breast, stomach, throat and other types of cancer
• Increases insulin sensitivity, decreases unhealthy blood sugar levels, but doesn’t cause low blood sugar levels
• Extends the lifespan of short-lived fish
• Reduces inflammation, improves bone density, slows bone degeneration and may reduce the risk of head and neck cancer
• It is useful in treating antibiotic resistant infections
• Protects against the damaging affects of UV radiation (may prove beneficial for cancer patients needing chemotherapy)
• Prevent heart disease
What Is the Best Source for Resveratrol?
I’m sure you have heard that you can get it by drinking red wine, which is true, but you would have to drink many glasses every day to get the true benefits!
Other sources include blueberries, peanuts and the most potent from the Japanese Knotweed plant.
To be efficient, Resveratrol has to reach the bloodstream, and even after drinking many glasses of red wine, only a low percentage penetrates. Experts nowadays agree that the best method is via a health supplement, preferably blended with other synergistic nutrients.
But…The resveratrol supplement requires an enteric coating to be efficient, and to make sure the nutrients are not destroyed because of the stomach acid, but reaches the superior intestine where it will have the greatest benefit. Fortunately, many companies selling resveratrol supplements are complying with this requirement.
In conclusion, these supplements should be included in your daily diet as they are great weight loss helpers and health boosters not to mention their anti aging effects .

Great post. I especially found it useful where you stated Resveratrol prevented heart disease considering that heart disease is high on the leading cause of death today.
