It seems like the modern man is predisposed to gain 1.1 pounds every year after the age of 25.A simple calculation shows us that by the time we reach 50 chances are we will weight 26.4 pounds more than when we were 25.Plus, the metabolism slows down which means that the body will be less efficient in burning fat. Most people become sedentary once they age, losing about 2.2 pounds of muscular tissue per year. All these mean that the risk of diseases increases, as well as the risk of injuries and the body performance decreases.

Still, there is hope. For 90% of obese patients, weight loss and an active life style are capable to reduce the risks of diseases, to improve blood pressure, to reduce the number of hospitalization days, post-surgery complications and mortality caused by cancer cardiovascular diseases.
