If you are a chocoholic or fancy yourself as bit of a sweet-toothed nut, a visit to the website of Hope and Greenwood wouldn’t go amiss. Famous confectioners of high quality Great British sweets, the site offers the ‘sweetie’ connoisseur a majestic array of delights, ranging from boiled sweets to fine chocolates and toffee - there really is something for all.
Miss Hope and Mr Greenwood take great pride in the fact that they were winners of a Gold Medal in The Great Taste Awards for their chocolate, Best Original Store for 2006 and even short listed as your Local Food Hero, not to mention their award winning Organic and Fair Trade Truffles.
If you are like me and quite partial to lollies, be prepared to be dazzled by unadulterated lolly heaven, with delights like swizzler lollies, traffic light lollies, tutti frutti lollies, the list goes on. Sherbet lovers will be thrilled by the flying saucers, the sherbet strawberries and the raspberry crystals. And hands up who loves liquorice? Well, you won’t be disappointed on this count either, with an impressive assortment available to choose from.
The selection of chocolates is stunning, hand-made objects of sheer delight with a vast choice to decide on, including organic, traditional, novelty- need we say more.
I have deliberately left the best until last, and with good reason. Award winning British truffles. A selection so simply stunning that you could spend hours just perusing this section of the site alone! Champagne truffles, Earl Grey and lemon tea truffles, rose and violet creams- the names themselves evoke memories of a bygone age of splendour and sophistication! If anything passes you by during your visit to the site, make sure it is not the truffles- you will not regret it.
